چکیده

A probable binary period has been detected in the optical counterpart to the X-ray source CXOU J005455. The source is coincident with an Optical Gravitational Lensing (OGLE) object in the lightcurves of which several optical outburst peaks are visible at ∼ 268 day intervals. Timing analysis shows a period of 268.6 ± 0.1 days at > 99% significance. Archival Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) data for the 504s pulse-period has revealed detections which correspond closely with predicted or actual peaks in the optical data. The relationship between this orbital period and the pulse period of 504s is within the normal variance found in the Corbet diagram.

Contrasting behaviour from two Be/X-ray binary pulsars: insights into differing neutron star accretion modes

In this paper we present the identification of two periodic X-ray signals coming from the direction of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). On detection with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE), the 175.4 s and 85.4 s pulsations were considered to originate from new Be/X-ray binary (BeXRB) pulsars with unknown locations. Using rapid follow-up INTEGRAL and XMM-Newton observations, we show the fi...

The Discovery of an Outburst and Pulsed X-ray Flux from SMC X-2 from RXTE Observations

Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer All Sky Monitor observations of SMC X-2 show that the source experienced an outburst in January to April 2000 reaching a peak luminosity of greater than ∼10 ergs s. RXTE Proportional Counter Array observations during this outburst reveal the presence of pulsations with a 2.37s period. However, optical photometry of the optical counterpart showed the source to be stil...

XTE J 0111 . 2 - 7317 : a nebula - embedded X - ray binary in the SMC

The observed characteristics of the nebulosity surrounding the SMC High Mass X-ray Binary XTE J0111.2-7317 are examined in the context of three possible nebular types: SNR, bowshock and HII region. Observational evidence is presented which appears to support the interpretation that the nebulosity surrounding XTE J0111.2-7317 is an HII region. The source therefore appears to be a normal SMC Be X...

Correlations and Predictions of THF + 2-Alkanol Binary Mixtures Behaviour by PC-SAFT Model and Friction Theory

In this article the behavior of tetrahydrofuran (THF) + 2-alkanol namely 2-propanol, 2-butanol, 2-pentanol, 2-hexanol and 2-heptanol binary mixtures through the density and viscosity measurements have been studied as a function of composition and within the temperature range of 293.15–313.15 K. The excess molar volume, isobaric thermal expansivity, partial molar volumes, and viscosity deviation...

Long-term photometric behaviour of outbursting AM CVn systems

The AM CVn systems are a class of He-rich, post-period minimum, semidetached, ultracompact binaries. Their long-term light curves have been poorly understood due to the few systems known and the long (hundreds of days) recurrence times between outbursts. We present combined photometric light curves from the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research, Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey, and Palomar T...
